Arturo Martorelli elected new Chair of the Aluminium Closures Group

At the ACG Summer Conference held in late June 2025 in Ljubljana, Arturo Martorelli, Chief Commercial Officer of Guala Closures, was unanimously elected as the new Chair of the Aluminium Closures Group (ACG). He succeeds Franco Bove, who held the position with great dedication for the past 14 years – since the association’s founding in 2011. At the same time, Patrick Broom was re-elected as Vice-Chair.

The Aluminium Closures Group brings together the leading manufacturers of aluminium closures and their suppliers from the aluminium industry, representing around 75 per cent of global production. Aluminium screw caps are primarily used in the wine, spirits, mineral water, as well as oil & vinegar sectors. The ACG’s work focuses on market analysis, sustainability and recycling, and the promotion of aluminium closures. In an increasingly regulated and competitive environment, the group continues to strengthen its role as an information platform and the voice of the industry.

Arturo Martorelli has many years of international experience in sales, marketing, and general management, particularly in the packaging and consumer goods industries. With his expertise in the strategic development of business units and international market expansion, he brings valuable perspectives to the association’s work.

“I am pleased about the trust placed in me and the opportunity to help shape the activities of the Aluminium Closures Group in an exciting yet challenging market phase,” said Arturo Martorelli. “Together with the member companies, we will continue to strengthen our work – with a clear focus on sustainability, circular economy, and the functional as well as economic benefits of aluminium closures.”

Special thanks go to Franco Bove, who led the group with great personal commitment through a period of significant developments, including the intensification of dialogue with bottlers and the successful positioning of aluminium closures as a sustainable packaging solution.

The election marks both continuity and fresh impetus for the further development of the Aluminium Closures Group. The market for aluminium closures remains stable and forward-looking – driven by clear consumer preferences, strong recycling performance, and growing awareness of sustainable packaging solutions.
